CheapTents Outdoor Gear Blog

…not just tents…a camping equipment blog too!

Let’s you and I take a little trip down memory lane. In the last 2 or 3 years we’ve had some of the worst winter weather on records for the UK. It has been so bad that many people have complained to both us and other companies that they didn’t receive an Christmas Gift orders in time for the celebrations, due to delays in delivery by Royal Mail and Parcelforce.

This year, as we did last year, we are advising all of our customers about which dates they should order by. This is to ensure the best chance of receiving the products in time for Christmas.

The Tadpole’s design has been so successful The North Face have used it as a starting point for the Meso, Mica, Big Fat Frog and Rock series. It is no surprise, that twenty five years after the original Tadpole, The North Face have released a number of updated versions, the latest being the Tadpole 2 and Tadpole 2 DL series released this summer.

Outdoor gear specialists MSR have a great range of ultralight shelters, known as their Essential Series. One of their more interesting new designs is the Fast Stash Tent. What is a Fast Stash and is it any good? In summary, its a 2/3 season, single-walled, ultralight tent that sleeps two people. The design is somewhat unusual. It looks something like a cross between a ridge tent and a caravan awning. There is not a pole along the ridge however, just one lightweight DAC pole at each end. The structure is held up by the tension of guy ropes.

With the school (summer) holidays now upon us, it is that time of year we’ve all be waiting for, the family holiday.
